About
John Gerges is a Toronto-based walking tour guide known for transforming casual strolls into immersive cultural experiences. Operating primarily out of Queen West, he has built a strong reputation for blending street art, history, food culture, and human stories into tours that feel personal, cinematic, and constantly evolving. Raised in midtown Toronto, John developed an early fascination with the city’s visual culture and architecture. He spent his teenage years sketching murals, exploring downtown neighborhoods, and memorizing the stories behind buildings most people passed without noticing. That curiosity led him to study Communications and City Studies, where he explored how urban design, storytelling, and culture intersect. After completing a certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management, John launched his own walking tour brand in 2016. His goal was simple: show visitors the Toronto they wouldn’t find on their own. His tours highlight hidden laneway murals, independent shops, pop-up art installations, and neighborhood landmarks that reflect the city’s constantly changing identity. John is especially known for his Graffiti Alley tours, where he highlights both iconic murals and temporary pieces that may disappear within days. His philosophy is that Toronto is never static—and neither should a tour be. Every walk adapts to what’s new, what’s changed, and what’s happening in the moment.
